Dana Ward for ClevverTV caught up with Robbie Amell and Italia Ricci on the orange carpet at the 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards to talk about piercings, practical jokes, best gift she’s ever received, staying in shape for the summer, summer plans and three summer must-haves.
With the firestorm of Jennifer Lawrence officially confirmed for the starring role of Katniss Everdeen in Gary Ross’s adaptation of “The Hunger Games” dying down, attention has quickly shifted to who will play Katniss’s support group, most importantly her rival, partner and love interest in the games, Peeta Mellark, and Gale Hawthorne, her best friend back home and the third point in the inevitable love triangle.
THR reports that for the role of Peeta, actors Hunter Parrish, Alexander Ludwig, Josh Hutcherson, Evan Peters and Lucas Till tested opposite Lawrence last week, while Gale auditions are ongoing and include, but are not limited to, Liam Hemsworth, Drew Roy, David Henrie and Robbie Amell.
In the era of Twitter, a lot of these names are not surprises to the fans of “The Hunger Games”, with Parrish, Hutcherson, Hemsworth and Amell all having confirmed publicly that they were in contention for a role in the film, from as early as January, before Lawrence was even cast. So who are the guys vying for the two open spots? We take a closer look at each candidate.
Robbie Amell: 22-year-old Amell is no one trick pony like some of his competitors. In addition to being a star of Disney Channel’s “Life with Derek”, he also did time on Nickelodeon as a series regular on “True Jackson, VP”. Yes, that was sarcasm. Other than a bit part in 2005′s “Cheaper by the Dozen 2″, “The Hunger Games” would mark his feature film debut, and what a breakthrough debut it would be.
To check out what they have to say about the rest of the actors being considered for Gale as well as Peeta at Up and Comers.

Now that we know who will play Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming film adaption of The Hunger Games, we’re on the edge of our seats waiting to hear who will be playing Peeta and Gale.
According to The Playlist, there are a few names director Gary Ross is looking at for each role.
For Peeta (Katniss’ fellow Hunger Games tribute) we have fan fave Hunter Parrish, Josh Hutcherson, Lucas Till, Alexander Ludwig and Evan Peters.
For Gale (her best friend from District 12), David Henrie, Liam Hemsworth, Robbie Amell and Drew Roy are all in contention.
You know where we stand on Gale, but let us know what you think!

As you all figured out last night by Robbie, Italia and Stephen’s tweets that Robbie has been cast in a pilot series called Hallelujah for the ABC Network. He will be playing the cocky, hunky younger son of character Del Roman.
The project is set in the town of Hallelujah, Tennessee, where the forces of good and evil are exemplified by hardworking, moral diner owner Rye Turner (Donal Logue), a family man who has had a run of tragic luck, and his longtime nemesis, corrupt millionaire Del Roman (Terry O’Quinn), who is a law unto himself. Del seems to be winning the battle until mysterious newcomer Jared O’Neal (Jesse L. Martin) arrives in town. Reese will play a wicked old conniver who has been the rock of Del’s life since his earliest memory.
Congratulations on the part Robbie and I can’t wait to hear more about Hallelujah!

Robbie Amell arrives at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles for the 24 Hour Hollywood Rush event early last week.
The 24 Hour Hollywood Rush benefited The Baby Dragon Fund which fuels programs at the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center. Italia Ricci and Cassie Scerbo are also pictured.
JJJ ran into Robbie, 22, recently where he told us that he was eyeing a few roles in The Hunger Games film adaption.
While we can’t really see him as Peeta, we do think he’d be perfect for Gale Hawthorne, one of Katniss’ good friends whom she hunts with.
Robbie posted on his Twitter that he reads for Gale this week! Send him good luck wishes on Twitter @RobbieAmell!
WHAT DO YOU THINK — could Robbie be Gale?
